Landing a job has a lot to do with timeliness, but perhaps more than you even know. Turns out, the day of the week that you choose to apply for a job can be crucial to getting one, according to a career expert.
LinkedIn Editor-In-Chief Dan Roth says that to rise above the pack, Monday is the best day to apply for a job.
When Is the Best Time to Apply for a Job?
You may be one of those job seekers who believes that applying for a position later in the week works best for your schedule, but that may not be the best idea.
The way to approach it is to think like a hiring manager, Roth says.
“I think a lot of hiring managers spend the week getting their job descriptions ready. Monday, start the week off, put your job description up and wait for the resumes to start coming in,” Roth tells CBS News.
He says being first in line is important, but it’s not the most important thing by far when it comes to attracting employers.
“The real key is making sure that you’re out there with your profile, that you’re sharing, you’re talking about what you’re an expert in, you’ve got your skills listed, you’re networking with people — you want to make sure that you’re out there in the market,” he tells the news outlet.
Why Fall Is the Best Time of Year to Apply for the Job
Findings from LinkedIn also indicate that October is the best time to apply a job, according to CBS News.
LinkedIn has found that October has the highest number of job openings on its website. Also, 89% of hiring managers fill those positions in less than four weeks.
