One of the world’s largest retailers is getting serious about health care with two initiatives: Walmart Care Clinic and a new service called Walmart Health.

What Is Walmart Care Clinic?

Walmart Care Clinics are designed to offer a primary health care option at an affordable price, regardless of your insurance status.

Like any doctor’s office, they can handle a full range of illnesses and injuries, as well as offer continuity of care for ongoing conditions. In addition, they offer immunizations, on-site lab tests, off-site lab tests, physicals and more.

How Does Walmart Care Clinic Work?

Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is necessary. However, you can make an appointment online if you wish.

There are currently 20 locations in three states — Georgia, South Carolina and Texas — and they’re all staffed by certified nurse practitioners.

What Are Walmart Care Clinic’s Hours of Operation?

The vast majority of Walmart Care Clinics are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday. They’re open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Meanwhile, the clinics shut down each day from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. for lunch.

You’ll want to be sure to call your local clinic to confirm hours before heading out.

Walmart Health is Walmart’s latest entry into the health care space. Just like Care Clinics, you can get the care you need at a price you can afford no matter what your insurance status. However, Walmart Health ups the ante by packing a vast array of services into one location:

How Does Walmart Health Work?

Walmart Health partners with local providers to offer its wide range of health care services. Walk-ins are welcome and no appointment is necessary. However, you can make an appointment online if you wish. You’ll also get an estimate of your cost when you book your appointment.

At this time, there’s one only a single location of Walmart Health in Dallas, Georgia. But more are coming — albeit slowly at first.

“We announced our second location opening in Calhoun, GA, [in early 2020],” Marilee McInnis, Head of Health and Wellness Communication, tells Clark.com. “[Walmart hasn’t] announced additional locations. We are using these prototypes to learn how best to deliver the integrated care our customers want and need.”

Much like Walmart Care Clinic, Walmart Health is all about price transparency.

If you go in for a service, you’ll know exactly what you’re going to pay for it upfront. Keep in mind that you may require additional services — like lab tests — during your visit that will come at an extra charge.

Final Thought
